Arkitip – Max Fish
Established in 1999, Arkitip is a hand numbered 4/color art book that publishes site specific work at a reasonable price point, making art available to people of all economic levels. Every 6 issues, Arkitip changes in size and format, but its founding principles remain the same: support the arts, promote freedom of expression, and make art affordable and accessible.
Max Fish issue no. 0060 focuses on the infamous Ludlow Street hangout Max Fish. The bar, which was opened by Ulli Rimkus in 1989 and closed its doors in 2013, was a much-loved meeting spot for the artistic community of New York. With the bar now gone, Arkitip worked with Converse Cons to produce a 144-page eulogy featuring interviews, anecdotes, photo shoots, and artwork from its owners, workers and loyal clientele.
